| TGP is pleased to have spearheaded the largest piece of empirical research to try to define the key skills, attributes and characteristics of high achieving career women within the North West. Working in association with Connexions Lancashire via the Institute of Management and Lancaster University, we are interviewing and assessing 100 successful women. On evaluation of all of the feedback we will be producing an academic paper to explore the evidence and conclusions reached. This will in turn be used to devise an innovative training programme for aspiring young female managers. Two of the women who volunteered to join the programme are Jean Evans, Head of Lord Mayor's Office at Liverpool City Council and Carol Matthews, Director of Housing at Northern Counties Housing Association. Jean spoke of her involvement, "Thank you TGP for inviting me to be part of your project. I was delighted to be able to share my experiences with you and I hope that it will prove beneficial to other women. Can I say how pleasantly surprised I was, at the feedback I received from the questionnaires which was most informative. It is rare to get such comprehensive and in-depth analysis and I am grateful to you." Carol commented, "This has been an enlightening experience – thank you TGP. It has helped me see the ways my changing role has impacted on my approach to work and has given me some ideas on which to focus my development needs. It will enhance my effectiveness in my existing job and assist me to plan future career aspirations. In relation to home life, I have been able to structure my feelings about becoming a mum against my continuing priorities at work!" See the Research Highlights |
